Back in 2014 I had the pleasure of spending the evening with Julie and Andrew and all their friends to photograph the celebrations for their engagement, upstairs at The Elgin in Maida Vale. So I was delighted to be asked back to be their Chelsea register office wedding photographer when the big day finally arrived.

I love to start early and catch all the nervous excited energy in the room as the groom and invited guests wait for the bride to arrive, and in good wedding tradition we were kept waiting juuuust the right amount of time so that when Julie finally stepped down the aisle with her father it was a thrilling moment for everyone. And they’re such a gorgeous, smiley couple that it’s almost impossible to take a bad photo of them.

After the ceremony, having covered Kings Road with confetti, and received several “congratulations!” shouted from passing black cabs, we all trooped round the corner first to the church gardens for portraits, and then to Tom’s Kitchen Chelsea for the reception and lunch. With just a couple of dozen guests the whole afternoon felt so special, with plenty of time for everyone to have a moment with the happy couple.

By the way Tom’s Kitchen is the perfect venue for an intimate Chelsea registry wedding. Julie and Andrew booked the private room upstairs, starting with a champagne reception and topped off by a delicious lunch and some heartfelt speeches from the fathers of both the bride and groom. Congratulations, Julie and Andrew!
