Steven and Chris were exactly the sort of lovely people I adore to work with: friendly and loving and down-to-earth, with a great sense of humour, and an absolute certainty that I was the right photographer for them – perfect! They’d actually met me originally at a wedding reception in Wimbledon for their friends a couple of years before, so they already knew I’d take the sorts of discrete, informal photos that they love, capturing exactly what it was like to be at their wedding without making them do anything that wasn’t them.

Mayfair Library’s an ideal venue for a central London register office wedding, set off the main road at the end of a cute access road to Mount Street Gardens, so there’s plenty of space for guests to gather safely, and great scenery for both candid and posed photographs – I love the way the light caught Steven and Chris for one of their portraits on the benches.

But my favourite photos are the ones where I caught their real emotions – little looks, little touches, and especially the moment Chris wiped a tear from Steven’s face. Real moments mean so much more I think.
