I first met Andrew the day he was born – he’s my brother! So when Andrew and Jude announced they were getting married we had a tough decision to make: should I be his Best Man? Or their Glasgow wedding photographer? After all, it would be pretty tricky to pull off doing both.

Well, I like a challenge, and I couldn’t possibly choose between the two jobs – so we chose ‘both’!

Andrew booked us both into a central Glasgow Airbnb for the night before, and even though we stocked up on plenty of rum and beers we were very good boys and in bed by midnight. The next day I was up bright and early and off to Cambuslang to spend an hour with Jude and her wedding party while they had hair and makeup done at home. Sadly their cat Willow was nowhere to be found, perhaps there was a bit too much excitement for her.

And then I hightailed it back to Glasgow to make sure Andrew was getting ready and on time – and to get my own kilt on too of course! All kilted-up, we set off to St Andrew’s In The Square near Glasgow Green, once a church and now a stunning venue ideal for your Glasgow wedding and reception. The steps outside are perfect for a huge group shot, and later in the evening the setting sun made beautiful light as it played off the stone columns and shone through the stained glass windows. I must say thanks to Andrew’s friend Chuck who took a couple of the group portraits that I needed to be in as Best Man – turns out I can’t be in two places at once, who knew?!

After the speeches (I went easy on the groom in my Best Man’s speech… sort of) and a fantastic dinner, the party kicked off with a romantic first dance that Jude and Andrew had most definitely put in a spot of practice for, and was still going strong when I packed up my cameras at 10pm as the bacon butties arrived. Note to all wedding couples: late-night bacon butties turn a great party into an AMAZING party!
